The complexity of the human foot is greater than you would think by just looking at it. This appendage is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints, and hundreds more muscles, nerves, and ligaments. That being the case, with as much as they are abused, it is no wonder that foot pain is a common occurrence with many.

The realization that there are painful foot conditions, however, should not cause despair since there are many different treatments available to ease pain resulting from these complaints. The following are two of the most common complaints and a few exercises that can be done to improve them:

Hammer Toe

When a person’s foot flattens out too much, their step becomes unstable, and the tendons that balance the toes out tend to pull to compensate, resulting in the great toe arching. If not treated this position can become ridged, preventing the toe from being able to straighten out as the person walks. There are several exercises that a person can do to help improve the malady.

Toe crunches can be done by sitting in a chair, without socks on, and placing a towel on the floor with the top half of the symptomatic foot placed on it. While keeping the heel on the ground the person then crunches the towel up, and releases it, with their toes. This should be repeated 10-12 times.

Another useful exercise is the squeeze. From a seated position the person places their foot on the opposite thigh, slide their splayed fingers between their toes, and squeeze the toes together. If it is too painful to do them all at once, then they can be done one or two at-a-time until, incrementally, all of them can be done at the same time.

Turf Toe

A common injury from sports, or other activities that require a person to put their weight on the ball of their foot, it causes the tendon that runs under the joint at the base of the great toe (the toe that bears the most weight) to strain, resulting in it becoming hyperextended. The toe is then tender and inflamed, making it painful when it carries weight as the person walks.

The treatments normally recommended for this condition is icing, resting the toe, and taking anti-inflammatory medication.

Tennis Ball Massage is also recommended for turf toe. The person does this by sitting down and placing the injured foot on the tennis ball, and rolling it in all directions, paying particular attention to tender spots.
Generally, taping the great toe and putting a firm insert in shoes helps the toe to heal and prevents the injury form recurring.

An exercise called Short Foot is also beneficial for turf toe, and is done by the person sitting in a chair with their foot flat on the ground. Then, they lift the arch of the foot up, without allowing their toes to curl up or the foot to roll to the outside. This should be held for 5 seconds, released, and repeated until tired.

Some other foot complaints are bunions, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and complications resulting from diabetes. A little research will come up with quite a few exercises and other treatments that are beneficial for these ailments as well.

It is not unusual to see men having second thoughts about a vasectomy surgery that they got done years ago. After all circumstances both financial and personal keep changing from time to time and these changes can make you rethink your decision of not fathering children in future. Both procedures are performed with the goal to remove or bypass the obstructions created by the vasectomy procedure and to regain fertility.

Another factor that will also have a bearing on the success rate of a vasectomy reversal procedure is the expertise and competence of the surgeon. Since a vasectomy reversal is by no means an inexpensive procedure, you need to ensure that the doctor who works on your case has the necessary experience and a good success rate with his/her prior clients. Talk to the doctor about the procedure, the possible risks and complications and the expected success rate.

Once you have made a decision about getting the procedure done, talk to the surgeon about what you need to do before the actual surgery. Many clinics will ask you to shave the genital area before the surgery while others will ask you to use certain types of underwear or clothing after the procedure. After the surgery, you will also be given instruction about the post surgery care and about the painkillers that can be used to alleviate discomfort.

If the vasectomy reversal procedure has worked out as planned, sperms will reappear in the seen in a few months; your surgeon will ask you to conduct a sperm reversal after the procedure to analyze if the surgery was successful. Pregnancy usually appears 12 to 18 months after the surgery depending on the health and count of the sperms and the fertility of your partner. Boot Camp Exercises to Strengthen Your Legs

Think boot camp and the mind conjures up rigorous workouts and circuit training to keep the body fit. It is the best way to spend an exhilarating and fun day in the open as well as enjoy a tremendous workout. The focus of each of the camps could be different but they all adopt high-impact fitness routines or training that will push you beyond your known physical limits. Most of them adopt a method called as circuit training, where there are no rest breaks at all, between the fast paced exercises. Therefore there are endless variations of training and exercises which help in the strengthening of the legs.

Box Jumps: This is a very flexible but highly entertaining boot camp exercise to work those calf muscles. You should choose a fairly wide box or a wide wooden bench of about a foot and half in height and of reasonable strength that will hold your weight if you were to jump on it. Next prepare to jump onto the box or the bench with both your legs at the same time. Begin with coming into a squatting position at about half a feet away from the box. Then in one movement jump on the box or bench and immediately jump down again with both the legs together. This is much like jumping the rope but at a slightly higher position and it will have to be done very fast. Continue to do this until you tire.

Burpees: This is another interesting combination of boot camp exercises consisting of squats and push-ups. This will help in the overall toning and maintaining the cardiovascular rate. First begin by standing with your feet apart. Then squat and place your hands down on the ground like when you do a push up. Complete one set of push-up and then do the most exciting part of this exercise. Start with kicking the feet backwards up to into the air, stretch your body explosively, simultaneously clapping overhead. You could repeat it until you are exhausted.

Power lunges: This is a very quick and fast paced exercise and will help you strengthen your muscles as well as become more agile. Keep the front knee at a right angle and stretch the other leg. Then in one swift movement simultaneously jump and switch legs coming into the lunging position as quickly as possible. This exercise will tone these calf muscles. Continue to do this until your legs begin to ache.

Y-squat: This boot camp exercise will focus on strengthening the hamstrings and the quads. Stand in a relaxed position with your feet apart. Then spread your hands in front in a Y-shape. Then begin the squatting exercise, keeping the hands in the same position and widening the knee transferring the weight to the heels.

Therefore boot camp exercising is the sure shot way not only to strengthen your calf muscles but also to have some fun and exhilaration doing them.

I have been writing articles taking the readers through different phases of the South Beach Diet. I started with an over view of the program, then South Beach Phase one , Phase Two, now the final phase, South Beach Phase Three.

Well congratulations! Because you are here that means you lost 8 to 12 lbs. In phase 1, you continued to lose weight slower in phase 2, your clothes are looser and you are noticeably thinner and you have achieved your target weight.

What’s next? Phase 3! This phase of the program lasts for the rest of your life. You now have the knowledge to make the right choices of the food you eat. The program now should feel more like a life style than a diet. You can eat normal foods in normal portions. If you find the weight creeping back up just start phase over again. It is that simple.
There is not much more to say about phase 3 so I would just like to pass on some tips that Dr Agatston recommends once you are in phase three.

Don’t skip meals, especially breakfast! He says that studies show that when you eat regular meals you stabilize your blood sugar and experience fewer cravings during the day. Should you experience cravings later in the afternoon just have a snack of low fat cheese, nuts or vegetables around mid afternoon. This will eliminate the cravings and bide you over until supper.

Make sure you get lots of fibre from the foods you eat. He suggests that we don’t consume enough fibre in our diets. Fibre comes from good carbohydrates such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables. He says that studies show that when you consume lots of fibre you have better weight loss and reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Remember when shopping for bread or cereal that you read the label and make sure that the first ingredient is 100% whole grain or whole grain.

Don’t leave out good fats in your diet. These fats are actually good for your health. Good fats include olive and canola oils, omega 3 fish oil found in deep water fish as well as walnuts and green leafy vegetables. He also recommends an Omega 3 supplement if you don’t eat fish 3 times a week.

It’s all right if you have a bad day. He says a healthy diet is a lifestyle that means that it is marathon not a sprint. Every one falls off the wagon from time to time. If you do get back on! Living a healthy life style means making good choices most of the time not all of the time.

Exercise regularly. Those who exercise regularly tend to keep the weight off over time compared to those who don’t have an exercise regime. Exercise helps you feel better, prevents heart and other disease, and helps you live longer.
Remember to practice everything you learned though out the program. I commend you for taking charge and making a change in your lifestyle and the way you think.

Every time we do some form of hard work we use our muscles and in so doing through our normal day activities we do gain muscles also. If one does not use the muscles due to any strenuous work or physical demanding activity then some program of muscle building must be put into place. A new physical routine will see adjustments in your diet and how you live and exercise. If however you are determined and put your heart and mind into it and see it through, you will be able to pat yourself on the back and be proud of yourself as compliments pour in from the people around you. This is not an overnight success story however, but with the right muscle building program you will get those long desired for muscles.

A muscle building program or regimen is very important for you to build your muscles. The program is basically a set of routine exercises that are given certain schedules to be done at given days. To develop different muscles require one to do different exercises targeted at specific muscle groups. In this way, the muscle building program must be carefully organized anywhere from a full body workout a workout for specific muscle groups. An example can be training of arms on Mondays, legs and calves on Tuesdays, lower body and abs on Wednesday and so forth. You should stick to the plan you have designed no matter what. By having this plan of segregation of muscle groups, you make the most use of time and not waste it by having a full body workout everyday with no results.

Rest is extremely important. During rest is the time that muscles are repairing and growing. When muscles are used they tear and therefore the body replaces that tear in your muscle cells with new thicker fibres from protein thus it grows. This process of repairing and building starts a couple of hours after exercise and can last up to a day. As time moves on, you will need to make further adjustments to your muscle building program. This is due to the fact that as your body adjusts to the routine, it will be used to it and no further tearing of muscles, hence further growth, will occur. It is advisable that the routing be modified once every six weeks or once a month.
